Albufeira Beaches

A wide range of exciting, fun-filled choices Located right in the centre of the Algarve, Albufeira is one of the most popular touristic areas in the whole region. With an ample supply of tourist complexes, ranging from hotels to apartment villages and campsites, the whole area is an ideal choice for families, whatever their different interests may be.

In the same way, there is also a vast range of different places to eat, offering all types of meals from fast food to regional specialities, including international cuisine. Nor is there any shortage of entertainment in Albufeira, for people of all ages. It is here that the famous Zoomarine is to be found, as well as some of the bars and discos that welcome all age groups. In fact, in the summer months in Albufeira, the days spent relaxing on the beach are generally regarded as an appetiser for nights of great fun and entertainment. Consisting of an enormous expanse of sand, the main attraction of the Galé beach is its cliffs, located in the East, and the dunes, in the West. Only a few kilometres to the east, the São Rafael beach also has the surrounding landscape as one of its most attractive features, for its beauty is enhanced by the various rock formations that rise up out of the sea and the beach itself. Very well supplied with hotels, restaurants, bars and the possibility of enjoying different water sports, Oura is one of the most popular beaches amongst families. Right alongside is Santa Eulália, which has excellent access facilities and infrastructures, even though it is only a small beach. Immediately after this is the beach of Maria Luísa, offering bathers an atmosphere of peace and quiet that it is sometimes quite difficult to find elsewhere in this area.

Continuing along the coastline, we find the beach of Olhos d’Água, whose main charm is that it is fully incorporated into a typical fishing village and therefore usually has its golden sand occupied by small boats. It has the added feature of providing excellent access facilities for the disabled. A little further east are two other beaches that also represent ideal choices for all the various family generations: Falésia, because of its splendid setting amidst a landscape of spectacular cliffs, and Rocha Baixinha, because of its excellent support infrastructures. The beaches that we have suggested are all supervised by lifeguards and certified with the Blue Flag and Gold Quality awards, being equipped with support infrastructures such as restaurants and bars; sunshades, awnings and canvas beach huts for hire; toilet and bathroom facilities; and the chance to hire light motorless boats or to enjoy some water sports.
